Alpine Resorts Co-ordinating Council

Welcome to Our Website

The Alpine Resorts Co-ordinating Council, or ARCC, is established under Victorian legislation to plan and facilitate the establishment, development, promotion, management and use of the six Victorian Alpine Resorts.

Victoria's Alpine Resorts are unique areas that give visitors ready access to Australia's very special Alpine environments. They provide everyone with a magnificent all-year round recreational facility. They are the main areas where Victorians can have fun in the snow or, if they desire, engage in competitive snow sports. The Alpine Resorts also perform a key economic role for their regions and are an important part of Victoria's tourism industry.

The State government is committed to a strategic vision for Victoria's Alpine Resorts. The government's Alpine Resorts 2020 Strategy' sets out a vision of "four season, vibrant, sustainable resorts". A key role of the ARCC is to work with Alpine Resort managers and others to pursue this vision by co-ordinating the implementation of the many actions listed in the Strategy.

Victorian Alpine Resort Fees Compare Well
A consultant economist's study of property charges, charges related to the provision of municipal type services and water and sewerage, per capita Government grant income and gate entry charges has now been released. The report shows that the Victorian Alpine Resort Management Board charges compare favourably with equivalent charges imposed by adjacent Victorian municipalities and the New South Wales alpine resorts. The report is available on request from the Council and is also available in electronic form.

160,000 vehicles visit alpine resorts in summer 2007/08
Council's report of it's first summer vehicle counting survey has been published. The survey commenced on the Melbourne Cup long weekend of 2007 and, in recognition that vehicle counts are a useful indicator of visitation, will assist in measuring the success of initiatives to attract non-winter visitation. The report shows that over 160,000 vehicles visited Victorian Alpine Resorts during the six month period from November 2007 until April 2008. The report also includes some historical records and estimates of total visitation. The report is available in hard copy as well as electronic form.
