Alpine
Resorts 2020 Strategy Implementation
Council has
a legislative responsibility to review and co-ordinate the implementation
of the Alpine Resorts Strategic Plan, the current version of which
is known as the 'Alpine Resorts 2020 Strategy'.
The Victorian
Alpine Resorts 2020 Strategy was prepared by the Government to guide
"the sustainable long term planning and management and to assist
in investment attraction in Victoria's six alpine resorts: Falls
Creek, Lake Mountain, Mount Baw Baw, Mount Buller, Mount Hotham
and Mount Stirling".
The Strategy
was released in June 2004. It sets out a vision of the future: "Four
season, vibrant, sustainable resorts", and defined a series
of "actions" grouped under six strategic directions.
A "lead
agent" and "partner/s" were listed for each of the
"actions". All such agencies have a statutory duty to
take all reasonable steps to give effect to the Strategy. The Strategy
requires that each agency identified as being accountable for particular
"actions" is to report on their progress and states that
the Alpine Resorts Co-ordinating Council is to collate this information.
In March 2007,
Council surveyed all relevant agencies on their progress in implementing
the actions for which they were responsible. The information provided
by the lead agents" has been collated by the Council
and web-published.
A new survey
of agencies was undertaken in April 2009 and an updated progress
report has been published.
